Hi Everyone! I am so excited to be here today! I'm Dani, and I blog over at Inspire. Motivate. Love. where I talk about my life, my family, and all the adventures that come with.  It's basically just a bunch of random things that I have felt like sharing.

Something I learned about Samantha and myself is that we have a shared family background of German and Czech roots.  Now, I have no idea if there are any connections, but just having those two together, I thought it was kinda cool.  I can be kind of a dork when it comes to history anything though. So I thought that since we share this background, I would share my search for a fantastic kolache recipe, since I have yet to attempt this yummy pastry myself.  If you've never heard of kolache, they are small puff pastries filled with fruit.  Kolache means "a small cookie".

I remember growing up, eating these at grandma's house, reallllly wishing she would have made more when they were all gone.  Between my mom's 2 sisters and 2 brothers, and my 9 cousins, it was a serious battle to even get one sometimes.

The other day, I was talking to my grandmother about kolache's and how her mother used to make this braided kolache bread every year, only for Christmas morning.  The downside is that my great grandmother never wrote any of her recipes down, so now, we get to search for and try different recipes until we find ones that taste similar.  She told me that her and her sister have yet to find a recipe that tastes as delicious as that braided bread.

I imagine that great grandma's kolache looked something like this.  I unfortunately never met her, but I know that she could cook, and the recipes she did pass on are some of my favorites. Which reminds me that I should probably write them down......
Moving on...

The recipe I want to try first, before attempting that braided bread...because well, it looks like it requires some concentration, and when I'm cooking or baking with a 3 year old in the house, concentration is not something that is always allowed....back to the recipe.

It's for a cream cheese Kolache.

I think those look absolutely delicious! They might be on my list of things to bake this weekend.  We'll see how my first week of school goes, since that's another thing Samantha and I have in common. School.
